This video features many run-bys of the Susquehanna's newly-acquired Chinese steam engine #142, taken during its excursion service on the Southern Division. Action includes everything from taking on water from a hydrant at Hawthorne, to the reverse move made at Sparta Jct., with some footage taken in the hills above Ogdensburg, accessible only on foot.
There is also the usual freight and stack train action, featuring the GE 6-axle Dash-8 demo GECX #3008, which was being tested by the Susquehanna in February and March of this year. There is also footage of the "Mystery Express" special.
This tape was shot entirely on the Southern Division. Closing footage includes some evening action as a westbound stack train crawls through Midland Park and then needs a push from one of the old SD45's, after stalling in Butler.
